• Very early on, a new route to aryl-gold σ-bonded complexes was discovered ( Chem. Soc., Chem. Commun. 1973, 851; Inorg. Chem. 1974, 13, 2224).
• We reported the synthesis of anisole by Lewis-acid-catalysed decarboxylation of methyl phenyl carbonate ( Mol. Catal. 1987, 42, 353).
• Supramolecular, bifurcated N-H-OC-M bonding explained the unusually low n(CO) frequencies in metal carbonyls ( Chem. Int. Ed. 2004, 43, 5922-5925).
• In the past few years, a productive collaboration was developed with Jiang-Ping Lang’s group at Soochow University (China) on topics related to e.g. supramolecular coordination chemistry, polymetallic metal organic frameworks and the oxygen evolution reaction (Nanoscale, 2020, 12, 4816-4825), the construction and properties of olefinic coordination polymer single-crystal platforms ( Soc. Rev. 2024, 53, 5227-5263) and the study of photoresponsive coordination polymer single-crystal platforms (Acc. Mater. Res. 2025, 6, 183-194) and the photopolymerisation of triene coordination polymers enabling macroscopic photomechanical movements (J. Am. Chem.
